Fusion Foxtail Barns Wedding

When Jourdanna and Shabaz’s enquiry dropped into my inbox I squeeled with joy. I had known Jourdanna since we were teenagers at school, and had grown up with her and her triplet brother and sister. So this wedding was a little bit more special to me than most… not having favourites or anything!

Jourdanna and Shabaz booked me for an engagement shoot as they both felt anxious when it came to having their photograph taken as a couple. However minutes into their shoot they were complete naturals and their energy together was electric. Now I was even more excited to capture their day at Foxtail Barns Wedding Venue in Stoke on Trent.

Foxtail Barns is one of the most amazing venues in Staffordshire and you wouldn’t know it was brand new as the grounds are steeped in history. Set within hundreds of acres of land and within a 2 minute walk of an award winning, top hotel in the UK, the Tawny, this venue offers more and more!

The vast landscape, unique architecture and hidden spots offers the perfect backdrop for your wedding photography.

Jourdanna and Shabaz met at work during their Pharmacy training year. “Initially we started off as friends until Shabaz took me out on our 1st formal date. I always promised myself I would never date someone at work… but here we are!”

For the proposal Shabaz planned a day of ‘firsts’. Something that meant a lot to them both and included their love for food! It really sounded like the most romantic proposal. “We checked into a spa hotel where we spent our 1st valentines day together, took me on the cable cars where he first asked me to be his girlfriend, we went on our favorite walk from London Bridge to Tower Bridge where he got don on one knee ‘eeeekkkk’ and then we went for lunch in an igloo outside tower bridge which is where our 1st date was.”

You could tell how deeply connected they are to one another as when they read out their vows they had covered exactly the same points and reasons as to why they love one another. This moment was so sweet, funny and definitely had their guests in tears.

I think my favourite part of their wedding was how they had incorporated colour and there two heritages. Shabaz originally from Pakistan and Jourdanna from Jamaica. They tied these two cultures together with their love of food and opted for the most amazing curry wedding breakfast.

They also tied in their jobs by listing the menu as a “prescription” which I thought was so unique and clever.

In the evening Jourdanna changed into traditional dress, which meant we had to go out exploring the grounds again to get some epic couple portraits. The colours were phenomenal and shone so bright in the summer evening sun.

The flowers were all locally grown and were only chosen 3 days before the wedding. They wanted the flowers to be colourful, in season and organic, which was definitely nailed!

During the evening the party started in style as they took to the dance floor with an incredible choreographed first dance to a mix of sax, party music and instrumental asian tunes. The dance floor was full and the party was in full swing.
